Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the process of electronically transmitting information that is traditionally communicated on paper between companies.
EDI partners can include the customers themselves and third parties that the customer uses to handle their transportation needs. All EDI is based on files that are transmitted from the partner to IMC Companies and vice versa. Normally, each of these files will contain one or more transaction of a particular type.
Below you will find a list of EDI types that IMC Companies supports with its partners for both trucking and depot operations:
IMC Companies is capable of receiving the following EDI transaction types from our partners for trucking orders:
•204 load tender – initiates an order and order updates
•997 functional acknowledgement – verifies that a file sent to the customer was received successfully
•315 status details – updates pickup/release numbers
IMC Companies is able to send the following EDI transaction types to a customer or third party:

•210 motor carrier invoice – the invoice sent to the customer
Depot EDI:
For depots, IMC Companies has two EDI transaction sets:
•301 Depot Bookings (to IMC) - Depot customers can send bookings for containers and chassis.
•322 Depot interchanges and lifts (from IMC) - All the basic equipment interchange information for in-gates and out-gates at a depot is transmitted to the depot customer. The same information about lifts can be transmitted, but currently only do this for the chassis pools.
